Homeschool curriculum
Literature and living skills for the next generation of North Americans.
First units are in the works. Follow along:
True Frontier is a literature-based homeschool curriculum. Children learn history, geography, and ecology by reading real books and primary sources, then put that learning to work outdoors, in the kitchen, and at the workbench.
Our reading lists draw on the Western literary tradition and the North American story: the people who built homes, farms, and towns from open country, and what it asked of them.
Whole books and primary sources instead of summaries. Narration, discussion, and writing built around what children actually read.
Lessons that build independence, responsibility, and the confidence that comes from doing hard things well.
Skills a family can use: on the trail, in the garden, under the hood, and on the land.
Units are written by grade band so siblings can learn from the same books at different depths.
Picture books and read-alouds, nature walks, simple narration, and first hands-on skills.
Chapter books, maps and journals, early North American history, and growing independence.
Longer novels and primary sources, geography and ecology, and multi-week skills projects.
Classic literature, essays and source documents, rigorous writing, and real-world competence.
Each unit pairs reading with skills children practise alongside a parent.
Shelter, fire safety, weather, and staying comfortable outside.
Tools, simple machines, and repairing what breaks.
Gardening, canning, drying, and storing a harvest.
Maps, compass, and reading the land and sky.
Soil, water, wildlife, and caring for the places we live.
True Frontier materials are designed to fit Alberta home education planning and funding documentation, with clear outcomes and records by grade band. More detail will be shared before launch.
